How to Self-check The Car Brake System?

How to Self-check The Car Brake System?

It's hard to imagine what a happy life a vehicle with a brake failure or complete loss of braking function will bring to the owner! There is no doubt that the braking of the vehicle is a guarantee for the safe driving of the vehicle, but how many owners have in-depth knowledge of the braking system and can have the good habit of regularly checking the braking system?

In fact, many car owners think that braking is after pressing the brake pedal, and the car can stop at the end of everything. Next, we hope that every owner can pay enough attention to the inspection of the brake system because braking is a guarantee for car love and love yourself!

Check the brake system steps:

STEP1: Check the brake fluid storage. The storage volume of brake fluid should be between the upper and lower score lines of the storage tank. If there is a lack of brake fluid, the brake fluid of the same type and brand should be added, and no other types of brake fluid or alcohol substitutes should be added.

STEP2: Check the "feel" of the brake pedal of the hydraulic brake system. Depress the brake pedal, first of all, you should be able to feel the small free stroke of the pedal (in line with the requirements of each model), the free stroke should be between 6 ~ 20mm. Continue to step on the pedal, the pedal should have obvious resistance until it can not be stepped on. If the pedal is soft and there is no obvious resistance, it means that the brake system is faulty and should be repaired; if the pedal is depressed, the first foot pedal is very low, and the second foot returns to normal, but the pedal is pressed hard A slight amount of elasticity indicates that there is air in the brake line, and the air in the brake hydraulic line should be excluded. When the brake pedal is depressed to the end, the brake pedal should be kept at a certain distance from the floor of the cab, and the distance should meet the requirements of the vehicle model. If the distance is too small, the wheel brake shoe gap is too large, and the wheel brake shoe gap should be adjusted.

STEP3: Check the brake system for leakage. Check the technical status of the brake system, and eliminate any looseness, oil leakage or air leakage at each connecting part.

STEP4: Inspection in the parking state. After starting the engine, after a few minutes of engine operation, for a hydraulic (including vacuum assist type) brake system, if the reaction is normal when the brake pedal is depressed, the pipeline system is normal.

STEP5: Inspection while driving. Start the engine, release the hand brake, make the car drive at a speed of 20 ~ 30km / h, and step on the brake pedal on a dry and straight road. The car should quickly decelerate and stop without deviation. After the car is braked, when the brake pedal is released and driving continues, it should be able to start and drive smoothly, and when the steering wheel is not moved during driving, the car should keep driving straight without deviation. When the car travels for a certain distance (does not step on the brake), stop and check the temperature of the brake drum (brake disc box brake pad), the temperature should be normal and not hot.
